Acupuncture helps Bell's Palsy and Facial Paralysis
Bell's Palsy  with Master Tung's Acupuncture protocols in our New York office greatly help or eliminated Bells Palsy symptoms.  Acupuncture Bell’s Palsy treatments focus on promoting circulation of Blood and Energy (Qi) to the paralyzed side.

Bell's Palsy is  a facial paralysis caused by inflammation which affects the facial nerve resulting in acute paralysis of one side of the face, usually one side of the face is effected.

Facial paralysis causes emotional distress because of its visual effects and visibility.  Bells Palsy usually effects the eye,  mouth or even the tongue, ( making speech slurred). It often makes smiling or closing your eyes difficult. Sometimes this condition is associated with facial numbness as well.

Bell’s palsy approximately occurs in 2 to 3 people per 10,000. At times this condition improves on its own and most often it needs intervention to get early treatments for best possible outcome. Total of 40,000 Americans effected by Bells Palsy every year.

Close to 10% Bells Palsy of patients will experience some degree of permanent paralysis. Conventional treatment includes corticosteroids, antiviral agents, massage, painkillers, botulinum toxin and surgery.

Traditional Chinese Medicine

Bell’s Palsy belongs "Wind Attack" in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. It is categorised as External Wind Stroke attack. Wind is thought to enter the body and attack the sinews and vessels in the area of the face which results in energy and blood blockage and stagnation causing the inability of flesh to relax or contract.

The principle of treatment is to expel Wind and promote the movement of Qi and Blood by scattering Stasis.

The sooner the patients with such condition gets Acupuncture treatments the better and quicker the results.

We have about 80% success with acupuncture for Bell's Palsy or Facial Paralysis. Best results are achieved in early intervention.
